Molly Burch - "Tattoo"

Originally written for The Most Radicalist

Singer songwriter Molly Burch has today shared her haunting portrait of loss, ‘Tattoo’.

We’re led in by ‘Heroes’ era Bowie-esque piano and vocals, straight into a tearing guitar, slow tumbling drum fills and a splashy ride. The contrast is anything but jarring, as the escalating instrumentation is complimented by vocals increasing in intensity, both lyrically and phonetically.

In the video, we’re treated to contrasting images of home-video style tender moments, juxtaposed with crashing waves, fireworks and rollercoasters, acting like a window to a dream.

Well crafted songs about loss can take you to a place of connection and understanding, a feat that ‘Tattoo’ firmly achieves.
